Energy, Environment, Climate Change, and the Green Transition Workshop

EcoMod and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) are pleased to announce the Workshop on Energy, Environment, Climate Change, and the Green Transition, to be held in Rabat, Morocco at the Mohamed VI Polytechnique University, Rabat, Morocco on September 24–25, 2026.
This two-day workshop will bring together researchers and policy economists working on energy systems, environmental policy, climate change, and the green transition, with a particular focus on emerging and developing economies, including Africa and the broader MENA region.
The workshop aims to foster policy-relevant research and constructive discussion across a range of theoretical, empirical, and quantitative modeling approaches.

Submission Guidelines
- Paper types: full papers or extended abstracts
- Format: PDF for full papers

Submissions will be selected based on originality, technical quality, and relevance to the workshop themes. Empirical, theoretical, and quantitative modeling papers are equally welcome.

- Energy demand and supply, pricing reforms, subsidy reform, and distributional impacts
- Electricity market design, renewables integration, reliability, and flexibility. Oil, gas, and electricity sector transitions; energy security and resilience
- Energy efficiency, industrial decarbonization, and energy productivity
Green transition, innovation, and structural change
- Green industrial policy, innovation, market, regulation and technology diffusion
- Labor markets, skills, and "just transition" policies
- Trade, competitiveness, border carbon adjustments, and global value chains
- Macroeconomic implications of the transition: inflation, productivity, and fiscal sustainability
Climate economics and policy
- Carbon pricing, emissions trading systems, and fiscal instruments
- Climate mitigation strategies and net-zero pathways

Environment and natural resources
- Air pollution, health impacts, and environmental regulation
- Water scarcity, agriculture, and resource management under climate stress
- Biodiversity, land use, and ecosystem services valuation
- Environmental Kuznets curves, enforcement, and institutional constraints
Methods and data
- Microeconometrics, applied IO, and causal inference in energy/environment
- IAMs, CGE, DSGE, ABM, SFC, network models, and hybrid approaches
- Integrated assessment of policy packages; scenario analysis
- Remote sensing, climate data integration, and new measurement strategies

Payment:
Payment is due at the time of registration. Payment by credit card or bank transfer. All bank and transfer fees are the responsibility of the attendee or their institution. When paying by bank transfer, an invoice will be sent with necessary bank details.

Registration Cancellation Policy
All registration cancellations must be received via email to Patricia MacNeil (pat.macneil@ecomod.net) by the dates below:
- Before July 15, 2026: Full refund minus US$25 administrative fee
- July 16 – Aug 25, 2026: 50% refund
- After Aug 26,2026 : No refund
- No-shows are subject to the full registration fee
Refunds will be issued within 30 business days after the conference concludes.
